No. Memoirs are currently commissioned directly by Road Song Books and are not open for unsolicited submissions.

Do I need to buy one of your books before submitting?

Yes. One book purchase (or UK library loan) is required per submission. Please include proof with your email. This helps writers understand our publishing style and determine whether we’re a good fit.

Who can submit?

We currently accept submissions from UK-based writers only.

What don't you publish?

We do not accept:

  • Fan fiction
  • Erotica or pornography
  • Plays or screenplays
  • Young adult novels
  • Graphic novels
  • Children’s books
  • Textbooks
  • Cookery books
  • Political manifestos or conspiracy theory titles
  • Work that promotes racism, homophobia, misogyny, or cruelty towards people or animals
Do you accept AI-generated work?

No. All submissions are checked for plagiarism, and AI-generated content is not accepted.

How long will it take to hear back?

We aim to respond within eight weeks of the relevant submission deadline. If you have followed the submission guidelines and have not heard from us after this period, please feel free to get in touch.

What happens if my work is accepted?

Successful authors are offered a royalty-based contract with no advance. Initial print runs are typically small.

What should I know before submitting?

Road Song Books is a micropress. Sales volumes are modest, royalties are likely to be small, and our focus is on publishing distinctive books rather than commercial growth. If you’re seeking large sales figures, we’re probably not the right fit.

Are you committed to inclusivity?

Yes. We actively encourage submissions from writers from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds and welcome unique voices and perspectives.

Do you offer internships?

Yes. We offer remote internships for UK-based applicants interested in learning about micropress publishing. Priority is given to South West-based candidates where possible.

Will you make me rich?

We are a small press. Although we pay royalties, the outlook for fame and fortune is bleak. Dividends are small. The company runs at a loss to support the author’s journey through publishing.
